“Thor: The Dark World” launches into theaters today! Spanning 51 years, the comics have been rich with Norse mythology since Thor’s first appearance in Journey Into Mystery #83, making them the perfect example of how the legends of the past can still inspire and teach in modern times.

Most everyone knows about the new Man of Steel movie coming out this month, but did you know June of this year is the 75th anniversary of Superman? Making his first appearance in June 1938, Superman was a champion for the oppressed, he could not fly (he leapt everywhere), and was not yet vulnerable to Kryptonite (that was added to his story during the 1940s radio show). Superman rang in the golden era of comics and created an icon that represents the best qualities an individual should strive towards.
